Vietnam - Ho Chi Minh City
Overview
Right Location, Right Partners - Right Team
Saigon Premier Container Terminal – SPCT , located along the western shore of the Soai Rap River on the 40 hectares Hiep Phuoc Industrial Park and 16km from Ho Chi Minh City center, is a state of the art facility which began operations in October 2009, just two years after construction began in September 2007.
Phase I of the development has 2 berths and storage capacity for up to 15,000 TEU (twenty foot equivalent container units) at a time, including 650 refrigerated container slots.
The continued development of the infrastructure by government authorities includes dredging of the Soai Rap river to a depth of 9.5m by early 2011, allowing SPCT to serve vessels with a nominal capacity of up to 5,000 TEU close to the city. SPCT will then be able to serve both the intra-asia market and deep sea trades, further reducing logistical cost for Vietnamese exporters and importers.
The project is an 80:20 joint venture between DP World and the Tan Thuan Industrial Promotion Company (IPC) - Vietnamese state-owned company.
