Europe and Russia Overview

Flemming Dalgaard, born in Denmark, is Senior Vice President and Managing Director for Europe and Russia for DP World responsible for managing 12 terminals and 3 greenfield projects. He is responsible for the geographical development of the Region with opening new markets, customer relationship management as well as developing new products and results within existing markets. He is on the board of DP World UK Ltd, the Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company (P&O) as well as various other companies and joint ventures in Europe and Russia.

Prior to joining DP World in early 2008, Flemming was employed by A.P.Moller Maersk where he held a number of senior management positions including Managing Director of Maersk Line UK plc, Managing Director for Maersk Line Ltd in South Africa and Vice President for Maersk China. He was also Chairman for Safmarine (UK), Chairman for Bowmur Haulage, Chairman for Maersk Logistics (South Africa) and a non-executive director for various other affiliated companies of the A.P.Moller-Maersk Group.

Flemming has a broad international experience in shipping, logistics and port developments and has held senior positions all over the world including China,Germany,South Africa, Denmark,Kenya and Dubai.

Apart from his education in Denmark, Flemming has continued his studies on various senior executive programs, most recently at London Business School and the CSEP at Columbia University New York.  He is also a Chartered Fellow at the UK Institute for Logistics and Transport (FCILT)

Flemming is taking an active role in CSR activities and is currently involved with Thames21, Mission to Seafarers and Unicef children’s fund. In the past he has been involved with school funding in China, Habitat for Humanity in South Africa as well as running an annual charity event for the Red Cross Children’s Hospital.

In his spare time Flemming enjoys playing squash, golf, karate, reading, cooking and spending time with his wife and two children.
