Russia - Vostochny

Overview

Vostochnaya Stevedoring Company (VSC) is the largest container terminal in the Russian Far East. Located on the Pacific coast it is one of only two purpose built container terminals constructed in the former Soviet Union. The facility services central and western Russia via the Trans-Siberian Railway. Whilst other Russian Far East container terminals cater for the local market and coastal trade, VSC is the only terminal in the area with container handling at its core, focusing on connecting services to deep sea mainline trades via Japan, Korea and China.

The terminal has direct access to the Trans-Siberian Railway - eight km from the Nakhodka-Vostochnaya railway station. With as many as 90% of containers traveling by rail, a special railway service department has been established to coordinate between VSC's customers and the rolling stock owners who transport their cargo and the Nakhodka-Vostochnaya railway station. The terminal further boasts access to all major highways, connecting with Vladivostok and Khabarovsk.

Additional to the rail and road links, the terminal provides a full range of stevedoring services together with freight forwarding, a modern container freight station and power connection for reefer containers. Long term expansion plans to significantly increase the capacity of the current terminal exist.
