UK - Tilbury

Overview

The port of Tilbury, situated on the River Thames, adjacent to the M25 London orbital motorway and less than 30 miles from the centre of London. The facility is the closest container terminal to the UK largest market area around the London conurbation and the SE of England. It has its own dedicated rail and feeder links to all major commercial centres in the UK and beyond.

The container terminal operated by DP World is widely recognized as the UK's leading handler of the North - South trades to and from South Africa, Latin America and Australasia. Tilbury's proximity to DP World's flagship development at London Gateway - only twelve km distant and with excellent road connections - will offer logistics companies and major importers significant opportunity and advantage to link business with London Gateway's major Logistics Park, obtaining costs savings in UK supply chains.

It was the first purpose-built container terminal to be established in the UK. Originally designed and built, to cater for the very high percentage of reefer cargoes generated by the Australia/New Zealand trades, TCS remains as one of the largest purpose built reefer terminal in the northern hemisphere.
