Abu Dhabi - Mina Zayed
Overview
Abu Dhabi Terminals are located in the oil-rich United Arab Emirates, on the south-eastern coast of the Arabian Gulf. The port's strategic location in the UAE's capital city and political center provides a firm base for growing cargo flows.
Abu Dhabi Terminals comprises of three main ports. Mina Zayed the main gateway for container and general cargo vessels, Musaffah located in the heart of the industrial city and the Freeport which caters for oil rigs, small vessels, tugs, barges and service crafts. Together, they play an important part in the economic development of the UAE by allowing the country to connect globally through its sea network and well equipped sea ports.
Volumes in the port have increased substantially over the past years. In order to accommodate this growth DP World has signed a co-operation agreement with Abu Dhabi Ports Company (ADPC) embarking on the development of Khalifa Port in Al Taweelah, Abu Dhabi. The operations of the existing Port Zayed will be shifted to the new Khalifa Port in the coming years. Work on this important initiative has already started and the project is in the procurement stage.
